Project 1 2 3 4 5

BEAKER

Handheld device to improve fluid monitoring in hospitals

Group project in collaborations with Maxima Medisch Centrum

DURATION

YEAR

4 months

September/ December 2022

Brief description

A prototype was designed and built that enables medical personnel to register fluid intake of patients more accurately and quickly. Renders were made of the final design, as well as a working prototype that could log fluid data in real-time.

Grade: 8.5/10

Project 1 2 3 4 5

Final Master Project

An artificial simulated blood circulation for a baby training manikin

Individual project for the Perinatal Life Support project

DURATION

YEAR

6 months

February/ July 2024

Important note:

This project is part of an ongoing patent application, and therefore some technical details have been blurred or omitted.

Brief description

A simulated artificial blood circulation for a training manikin that represents a 24-week-old extremely-prematurely born baby was developed.

The need for this stemmed from the Perinatal Life Support project where a device is being created that allows prematurely born babies to continue to receive oxygen through their umbilical cord after birth, as opposed to having to breathe.

To train doctors with this device, a training manikin that is: visually, tactilely, and functionally realistic is being developed.

Have a break: Raising the
self-awareness of gamers

Brief description

A research project was conducted in which a novel method for reducing problematic gaming behaviour was developed. An ambient tool that used sensors to measure their focus alerted them when their focus decreased, thus promoting more breaks and reducing play time.

The findings were published at the CHI play conference.

Grade: 8.5/10

Project 1 2 3 4 5

Use of ambient lighting to improve focus in university lecture rooms

Design project

DURATION

YEAR

4 months

February/ July 2019

LUMOS

Brief description

We designed a concept lecture room that enhances interactivity by helping students focus through an automated light system which changes based on the stages of the lecture. This is achieved by playing into the natural circadian rhythm.

Grade: 8.5/10

Project 1 2 3 4 5

Enhancing self-awareness and communication for a faster return to work

Design research project

DURATION

YEAR

4 months

February/ July 2022

Return To Work for ABI Patients

DSC_0250 Large.png

Brief description

This design research study developed a new method for enhancing the Return to Work (RTW) process for employees with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) by promoting their self-awareness and improving communication with their RTW coach.

Grade: 7.5/10
